Destination Development Specialist – Southern Virginia Region
The Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC) is seeking a Destination Development Specialist to primarily serve the Southern Virginia region and surrounding areas of Virginia. The specialist will facilitate the development of community-based tourism programs, new product and tourism-related businesses, including a focus on outdoor recreation, cultural assets, arts, culinary, and other key tourism attraction and amenity development. Responsibilities include providing tourism strategic planning, technical assistance, product development guidance, working with existing destination marketing and regional economic development organizations, cooperative marketing advice and consulting services to communities.
The successful applicant must have a comprehensive knowledge of tourism development and marketing, economic development planning, and professional leadership and community development. Considerable knowledge of strategic planning, goal setting, community visioning and value development, and project planning and implementation preferred. The Destination Development Specialist must be able to effectively manage multiple projects; communicate effectively verbally and in writing; deliver presentations; work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team environment; exhibit sound judgment in making decisions; and maintain confidentiality on sensitive matters. The successful applicant must have the ability to telecommute and/or work independently from a home office. The successful applicant will have experience using multiple software packages including the Microsoft Office Suite and statistical software. Degree or equivalent experience in business, public administration, marketing, hospitality or related field preferred. Considerable travel and evening meetings within the coverage area is required, including regular trips to the Richmond office. A valid driver’s license is required.

International Marketing Manager – Richmond, VA
The Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC) is seeking an International Marketing Manager to support VTC’s campaigns in Canada, Europe and Asia. Core activities under the International Marketing Manager include evaluating, planning and implementing all preparation for trade and media site inspection tours, seminars and trade shows; assisting with international media activities; participation in tourism trade related events; and routine travel around Virginia, as well as a minimum of six international and/or national trips per year.
The successful applicant should have considerable knowledge of marketing and event management principles, international media relations and foreign business practices. The International Marketing Manager must be able to prioritize work and manage multiple projects; effectively communicate verbally and in writing; work independently as well as collaboratively within a multi-discipline team environment; work with executives and government officials; exhibit sound judgment in making decisions; and maintain confidentiality on sensitive matters. Experience in budget planning, procurement and travel arrangement coordination is required. Proficiency in foreign language(s) is a plus. An undergraduate/graduate degree in business, marketing or related field is preferred. This position will work out of the Richmond office, 901 E. Cary Street. Hiring range $60,000-$75,000.
