Be part of the Virginia is for Lovers 2011 Online Sweepstakes
In 2011 VTC will host a sweepstakes on Virginia.org offering nine prizes, one from each region. If you would like to submit a possible prize component, please complete and return the submission form by July 16. You may e-mail it to jscott@virginia.org or fax to 804.545.5501, Attention Julia Scott.
If your complimentary submission is selected as part of your region’s prize, it will be showcased on Virginia.org during the sweepstakes, which we anticipate will result in significant website exposure. Prizes (though not all individual components) will be described in news releases, etc., distributed throughout the sweepstakes. Due to the number of travel partners who will contribute prize components, it will not be possible to share leads.
To be considered as part of your region’s prize, your submission must:
- Have a total retail value between $100 and $1,000. If your submission does not have a retail value of $100, we encourage you to consider partnering with nearby attractions, lodging or dining organizations to create a component valued at $100 or more. If you have questions about how to do this, contact Julia Scott at jscott@virginia.org or 804.545.5575.
- Provide a unique/special experience for the winner. For example, if you are offering admission passes, will the winner get a behind-the-scenes or VIP tour, meet an historical interpreter, learn a new skill or participate in a special program? If you are offering a meal, can the winner meet the chef, “design his/her own dessert,” or tour the kitchen? What makes your lodging option stand out from others in your region?
- Fit into one of the following “themes” (may be appropriate for more than one):
family fun
history/heritage
adventure
outdoor recreation
food and wine
anniversary (including Civil War 150th, State Parks 75th and Shenandoah National Park 75th)
Please note that while we will not able to use every component offered in the nine prizes, we will consider all submissions for inclusion in other website, print or broadcast promotions during 2011-12.
If you submission is selected to be part of your region’s prize, you will be notified by September 1, 2010. Full prize descriptions will be posted to Virginia.org when the sweepstakes begins in 2011.
