Passionate About Spreading the Word Awards
In honor of Tourism Week, Virginia Tourism Corporation will recognize outstanding efforts by the Virginia travel industry to educate elected officials and the public about the benefits of tourism to Virginia. Winners will be announced at the 2008 VA-1 Conference.
Eligible campaigns must occur between April 15 and June 15, 2008, and have a verifiable return on investment. Campaigns may be aimed at local officials, Virginia citizens, and/or visitors.
Category One – Passionate About Spreading the Word campaigns with budgets of $1,000 or less
Category Two – Passionate About Spreading the Word campaigns with budgets in excess of $1,000.
You may enter via e-mail or by regular mail (see details below). All entries must be received by June 30, 2008, and include the following information:
- Objective: 100 words or less; must be clearly stated, specific, and measurabl
- Execution: Describe, in 500 words or less, the elements of the program; techniques used; tactics undertaken; difficulties encountered and overcome. Identify partners and their roles, specify target market, and outline creative steps taken.
- Budget: If a specific cost of campaign is not available, please indicate one of the following budget ranges:
$1 - $500
$501-$1,000
$1,001 or more - Results: What was the ROI on this project? State the quantified results achieved, i.e., number of people who participated in contest or sweepstakes, number of information packets distributed, number of contacts with elected officials, increased visitation at Visitor Center, increased visitation to website, number of news articles printed or aired as result of campaign, etc. Results must be tied to objectives.
- Contact name, phone number and e-mail address.
All entries will be considered for posting on VATC.org as examples of creative Tourism Week campaigns.
Winners will be announced during the 2008 VA-1 Conference.
Entries must be received at Virginia Tourism Corporation by 5 p.m., Eastern time, on June 30, 2008. E-mail entries should be directed to jscott@virginia.org; mailed entries should be addressed to Virginia Tourism Corporation, Attention: Julia Scott, 901 E. Byrd Street, Richmond, VA 23219.
Example of campaign materials or other supporting documents may be included with mail entries or sent via E-mail to Julia Scott at jscott@virginia.org. The subject line should read: “Spreading the Word campaign entry” and the body of the e-mail should contain the campaign name and identify the contact for the entry.
All supporting material must be received by 5 p.m. on June 30, 2008 to be considered part of entry.
Entries become the property of Virginia Tourism Corporation and will not be returned.
