RICHMOND – For nearly 40 years, the Virginia is for Lovers slogan has inspired romantic visions for travelers across the globe. Today the Virginia Tourism Corporation announced six new romantic getaway ideas to take romance travel to a new level and help visitors heat up their passion for travel – and each other, in the only state built for lovers, just in time for Valentine’s Day.
“Virginia’s scenic wineries, quaint downtowns, luxurious resort spas, and overall natural beauty make the state the perfect romantic getaway destination,” said Alisa Bailey, president and CEO of the Virginia Tourism Corporation. “As Valentine’s Day approaches, we invite visitors to plan their ultimate romantic getaway to Virginia this winter and discover why everyone says ‘Virginia is for Lovers’.”
Building on the famous Virginia is for Lovers slogan, the Virginia Tourism Corporation created a special Web page, www.Virginia.org/romance, showcasing romantic getaway ideas, special events, romance packages, and travel deals for Valentine’s and romance travel. Make Me Blush – (Wine getaways)
Virginia’s wineries are picturesque and romantic destinations. Virginia has over 100 wineries, from the coast of the Eastern Shore to the mountains of Southwest Virginia, and their beautiful tasting rooms offer wine, music, and incredible views for the ultimate romantic experience.
