President's Notes

Save the Date for VA-1!
VA-1 is our annual, statewide tourism conference, which reflects our ongoing commitment to speak with one voice and strengthen Virginia's tourism industry.  I’m delighted to report that VACVB and VHTA have agreed on a Northern Virginia location for the VA-1 2009.  The Hilton Alexandria Old Town will host VA-1, September 28 and 29.  We have reserved a room block for the nights of September 27, 28, and 29 at a rate of $130.00/night.   Feel free to visit their website www.alexandriahilton.com.

This event is a great time to form even stronger partnerships and share successful strategies so I hope you will mark your calendars now and plan to join us.  More information about registration and the conference schedule will be sent to you soon.  Conference information, along with other important industry news, will also be posted to VATC.org.

Also, the VTC is offering a promotion this spring that will support the Live Passionately and VIFL 40th anniversary by offering deals that provide consumers with $40.00 off, 40% discounts, three nights with the four free and/or three admissions and the fourth free.  Check VATC.org for instructions on how to add your offers to Virginia.org. Contact Diane Béchamps for any questions.  Deadline for submissions is March 31, 2009 and the promotion will be supported through an aggressive public relations and electronic marketing outreach.  The program launches April 16, 2009.
