President's Notes

Virginia has been anticipating 2007 for decades with millions of dollars dedicated to preparations as we share with the world the history of Virginia and the nation.  So much has already been done, and the entire state will be putting its best foot forward as we greet new and returning visitors.

The most gratifying aspect of America’s 400th Anniversary is the collective partnerships that it has spawned. Jamestown 2007, our lead agency, Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, Historic Jamestowne and all the communities throughout the Commonwealth have come together to make 2007 “the year” for Virginia tourism.

Governor Timothy M. Kaine has been tremendous in his support and active participation in promoting the many events. We look forward to working with each of you to make this year the most profitable one yet.  Best of luck and Happy New Year!

Anniversary Issue

Cover of 2007 Virginia Travel Guide

The 2007 Virginia is for Lovers Travel Guide commemorates the 400th anniversary of the founding of Jamestown in 1607. A replica of the Godspeed, one of three ships that sailed from England in 1606 to the Virginia shore, graces the cover of the guide.

Inside, there is a special nine-page section dedicated to the Jamestown 400th Anniversary activities and events that take place in 2007, new exhibits and attractions at Jamestown Settlement and Historic Jamestowne, as well as information on Virginia’s Indian tribes.
