President's Notes

So much is new at Virginia Tourism Corporation — new direction, new marketing campaign, new energy and a new and improved tourism conference.

As a result of surveys to the industry and meetings with VHTA and VACVB, we are unifying the industry at the VA-1 conference in September. You will note from the information below that we have shortened the conference, made it more cost-effective and focused upon the ways we can partner together so as to beat the competition. With many state destinations in our competitive set garnering increased marketing dollars, the only way Virginia can remain competitive is to be passionate about our brand and our partnerships. I hope to see each and every one of you at VA-1. In the meantime, Live Passionately!

buttonMedia Opportunity for Hotels with Art Programs

A growing number of hotels embrace art and art programs and have their own curators or artists-in-residence. The trend is seen as part of the evolution of lifestyle hotels, which seek to lure younger travelers with a feeling and an attitude, rather than with standardized services and amenities. If your destination features any hotels with art programs, please contact Martha Steger, Director of Public Relations at VTC — msteger@virginia.org or 804-545-5572.
