President's Notes

The Virginia travel industry partners do a superb job of marketing Virginia as a travel destination, even as we all face the challenge of stretching our limited marketing dollars.  I am pleased to announce the Virginia Tourism Corporation Marketing Leverage Program.  By partnering with your local DMO and the travel industry partners in your area, you have the opportunity to apply for matching funds offered by VTC to further leverage our marketing dollars.

There are two sources of funding.  Tier One funds are for projects up to $5,000 and require a one-to-one match.  Tier Two funds are for projects between $10,000 and $25,000 and require a two-to-one match. But don’t delay. There is a very short turnaround.  The application deadline for the VTC Marketing Leverage Program is December 20, 2006.  More information and the application can be found at /development/leverageprog.htm. VTC will evaluate the program and determine future initiatives.

This is a great opportunity to create partnerships that develop new and innovative marketing programs to get more people coming to Virginia, staying longer, and spending more money!

arrowMedia Nix Large eMail Attachments
Please don't send large email attachments or images directly to your media contacts. Rather, place major content items and media kits on your Website, and send the URL to the media, inviting them to view the information online. Many travel writers often use dial-up to access their email, especially when out of the office. Some attachments can literally take hours to download, overloading their mailboxes in the process.
