President's Notes

Tourism has long been a partnership between the private and public sectors.  Our public agencies at the federal and state level, many of which manage our natural and historic resources, offer critical assets in which we achieve our goal to get “more people, staying  longer and spending more money” in Virginia.  However, many of us experience a disconnect with public agencies as well as not being familiar with many of the state and federal programs available for marketing and development.

The Southeast Tourism Society will hold a Federal State Tourism Summit, which holds the promise of featuring high-level elected and public officials in order to foster partnerships with communities and the private sector tourism industry.

Don’t miss the opportunity to attend this event in Arlington, Va., on Sept. 6-8, 2006.  You do not have to be a member of STS to attend, and early registration discounts are available through July 14. To register, go to www.southeasttourism.org.

I look forward to seeing you there.
