Momentum is building as the VTC, VACVB and VHTA host the 2005 Virginia Governor's Conference on Tourism from Sunday, April 24 through Wednesday, April 26 at the Greater Richmond Convention Center in Richmond, VA. With the Commonwealth’s Jamestown 1607-2007 Commemoration less than two years away, it is especially important that everyone in Virginia travel and tourism attend this year’s conference, as we unify and plan to welcome the world to Virginia in 2007. The agenda for this year’s conference includes workshop sessions on sales, electronic marketing, media relations, customer service, market research and more. Presenters include members of the national and international travel media, tourism marketers, experts in psychology and motivation, university faculty and Virginia tourism professionals. Conference information and registration is available through www.vatc.org/GovConf  See you there!

Don't be Excluded from Music and Pet Friendly Marketing
VTC is heavily promoting Virginia’s Music Festivals and Pet Friendly destinations and events. Please visit Add a Listing and advertise your R&B, Jazz, Gospel and Hip-Hop music events and festivals. Also, if your event or attraction welcomes pets on leashes, please add new or update “pet friendly” listings. Without a listing on Virginia.org, your destination's events and pet-friendly experiences cannot be included. For more information, please contact Angela Wiggins at awiggins@virginia.org or 804-786-3525.

From the Mountains to the Sea —
    VTC Needs Your New Images

Send your images to VTC for possible use in publications such as the Virginia Travel Guide, on Virginia.org or as fulfillment for media requests. We desperately need images with pets and their humans enjoying Virginia destinations! For image specs, please contact Judy Watkins at jwatkins@virginia.org or 804-371-8163.

    Golf Packages Needed
Golfers are looking for spring/summer travel packages. Remember, most Northerners haven’t played golf for months, so they are eager to resume their games on Virginia’s year-around, world-famous golf courses. Please list your golf packages on Virginia.org. For more information, please contact Angela Wiggins at awiggins@virginia.org or 804-786-3526.

Market Your Destination at Welcome Centers
Contact your local or all of the Welcome Centers for on-site demonstrations and brochure display space. Get the complete listing! Did you know that Welcome Centers now make lodging reservations for travelers? On-site demonstrations from the hotel industry could be a great way to increase room nights! If your hotel doesn't have its brochure distributed, please contact the Welcome Center or /consumer/brochure.htm for details.

    Meeting Planner Trade Shows
Space is still available in the Virginia Tourism booth at GWSAE’s Springtime in the Park Meeting Planner Trade Show. The one-day show is at the Washington, DC Convention Center on Thursday, May 26, 2005. Green Meetings
VTC and the Virginia DEQ with Mark Glickman (The Glickman Group) are working on a Green Meetings program. We’re in the process of developing a logo and enlisting supporters, such as VHTA. If your property is striving to achieve a Green Seal, would you please contact Lynn Bostain at lbostain@virginia.org or 800-811-4296.

    PBS Auctions
