The Capital Region USA (CRUSA) is a tourism coalition comprised of and funded by the Virginia Tourism Corporation, Destination DC (the tourism promotion agency for Washington, DC) and the Maryland Office of Tourism. The coalition also receives funding from the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority.
Formed in 1991, CRUSA has created a strong, unified marketing alliance committed to attracting the lucrative overseas visitor by combining limited marketing funds from each partner.
CRUSA strives to increase visitation and economic impact to the regoin from selected overseas markets by implementing innovative marketing programs and public/private sector partnerships.
Overseas visitors stay longer and spend more money than visitors from the USA. In 2010, a record 2.03 million overseas travelers visited the CRUSA, a 10% increase in overseas arrivals. Travelers stayed an average of 8.3 nights and spent a record $1.53 billion on hotels, meals, shopping, attractions, and other goods and services across DC, Maryland, and Virginia.

Secondary: France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Mexico, and Brazil
Emerging: Korea and China
Market selection is determined primarily by availability of non-stop air service to Washington Dulles International or Baltimore/Washington International Airports.
