    The Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC) Marketing Leverage Program is designed to stimulate new tourism marketing programs through the creation of tourism partnerships and to extend the “Virginia is for Lovers” campaign. The objective of this program is to leverage limited marketing dollars, resulting in increased visitor spending, length of stay, revenue, and jobs.     Governor McAuliffe Announces Tourism Revenues Expected to Exceed $22.4 Billion in 2014

    ~ New statewide data shows a forecasted increase of 4.1% compared to 2013

    Governor Terry McAuliffe announces today that Virginia’s tourism revenues are expected to exceed $22.4 billion in 2014, a 4.1 percent increase over 2013. In 2014, tourism in Virginia supported 216,300 jobs, an increase of 1.5 percent in employment, and provided more than $1.5 billion in state and local taxes, an increase of 5.6 percent compared to 2013. The increase is largely attributed to Virginia’s authentic, local travel experiences and surging culinary scene.
