Instructions for adding your Family Fun Getaway to Virginia.org
The new LOVE Campaign builds on the foundation of Virginia is for Lovers, framing love in the context of our devotion to one another to create relevance for families. Research shows that travelers seek relaxation and an opportunity to strengthen connections with one another, and that the family vacation continues to be a major focus of their travel plans. With that research in mind, VTC is seeking family fun getaways for electronic marketing promotion.
A Family Fun Getaway suggests specific family-friendly, fun for kids sites to see, places to stay, and places to eat in a multi-day itinerary (“day one, day two, day three”) format. The description should illustrate a reachable and affordable destination perfect for a family with school-aged children and toddlers. There is no price point included in a getaway; a getaway is not a travel package.
Properties featured in your getaway will be linked to the respective Virginia.org listing. VTC will handle finding these links unless you wish to give us a hand. There will be no external links in the getaway.
You may submit as many getaways as you wish for your destination, although they should not be duplicative. Creating getaways for various themes will give your destination more exposure. VTC reserves the right to edit content as needed to match the theme and/or copy tone of the resulting landing page where the getaway will reside.
Criteria: submissions must include:
- One to two nights’ lodging recommendation(s)
- Family-friendly dining recommendations
- One or more of the following travel experiences:
- Family Attraction(s)
- An ice cream shop, bakery or candy shop, etc.
- Outdoor Recreation (camping as an accommodation is acceptable)
- Hands-on, Kid-Friendly History or Science
- Summary and detailed description of getaway in itinerary format.
- Three to Five images representative of the experience.
- Contact information (VTC use only)
