The annual Visitor Centers Seminar attracts more than 100 participants each year from the Certified Tourism Information Centers (CTICs) and Virginia Welcome Centers across the Commonwealth. It is a once-a-year opportunity for Directors, Managers and front-line staff of these centers to:
- network exclusively with their colleagues;
- learn new marketing and operational tactics;
- discuss best practices;
- meet experts in the customer service field;
- tour a variety of localities and/or regions of the state;
- experience a first-hand look at new tourism product and,
- participate in planning strategies for statewide goals and programs.
This two-day event is typically held during the third or fourth week in March on a Tuesday/Wednesday or Wednesday/Thursday schedule. The event includes both a seminar/program component as well as a FAM opportunity.
As the sponsoring entity Virginia Tourism Corporation selects the DMO or host city (seminar location), designs the seminar and programming agenda, manages the promotional communication, and oversees the registration process.
As the host DMO or host city, your organization can spotlight your area through unique FAM opportunities, creative shopping experiences and even highlight local dining treasures, just to name a few. In addition, the host usually sponsors at least one meal during the conference or FAM and often this is donated by a local industry partner.
