Tourism Relations Manager
Lambsburg Welcome Center

The Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC) is seeking a Tourism Relations Manager for the Lambsburg Welcome Center.  The Tourism Relations Manager will manage the operations and administrative responsibilities of the welcome center; supervise staff; provide comprehensive travel information and assistance to the traveling public; and serve as a liaison with members of the Virginia tourism industry.

Candidates must have demonstrated experience in management and supervision.  Candidates must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively interact with the public-at-large, tourism industry, local and state government officials, staff and co-workers.  Public speaking experience is a plus.  Overnight travel to Virginia destinations is required.  Candidates must be able to work independently as well as within a team environment and exercise sound judgment in decision making.  Work schedule flexibility is a must, as holiday and weekend work is required.  High school graduate with a minimum of 2 years experience in the hospitality industry is required.  College level classes in management, communications, and/or hospitality is desired.  Salary minimum:  $33,010.

Tourism Counselor
(Part-Time)

Lambsburg Welcome Center

The Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC) is seeking a Tourism Counselor for its Lambsburg Welcome Center.  This individual will provide travel information and assistance to the traveling public, restock brochure racks, assist the welcome center manager with daily operations and perform general office duties.

The candidate must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment and lift up to 30 pounds.  Holiday and weekend work is required.  Knowledge of Virginia’s travel product, roads and highway systems and travel industry experience preferred.  Basic computer skills and knowledge of the internet is a plus.  High school graduate or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required.  Salary minimum: $10.08/hour.

Intern Openings in VTC's Public Relations

VTC's Public Relations department has a limited number of intern openings in the Richmond office for public relations/journalism students throughout the year. While the positions are unpaid, the internship can be structured for course credit if desired; and flexible hours are available. Interns can expect a variety of public relations and basic office experiences, including the opportunity to work on public relations projects.
