TOURISM Is Front & Center During VTC’S December Luray-Page County Help Desk
Virginia Tourism and the Luray-Page County Chamber of Commerce held two successful days of Outreach & Training in Luray December 2 and 3. On December 2, VTC staff was welcomed by the Luray-Page County business community, followed by an exciting role in the Town of Luray Christmas Parade. On December 3, VTC staff met one-on-one with Page County’s tourism businesses at the The Mimslyn Inn to take advantage of Virginia Tourism’s education, development and marketing services. In attendance were 100+ Luray-Page County dining, lodging, retail, event and attractions that were there to discuss best practices in reaching travelers, the media and increasing tourism visitation and spending.

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 3
Community Reception
Members of Luray-Page County tourism business community welcomed VTC staff at the Days Inn - At Shenandoah National Park on Rt. 211. Owners Sunny & Lopa Mehta, and Mike & Darshana Mehta hosted the event, along with local restaurants that provided delicious food and beverages, followed by a tour of the Days Inn’s spacious, clean and refurbished guest suites and meeting spaces.
Workforce Training & Community Service
Following the reception, VTC’s Director of Education and Workforce Development lead an hour-long customer service training course at the Days Inn. Bobbie Walker spoke to local business managers on the importance of strong leadership and workforce training and shared techniques and examples of how to train and lead an effective workforce that exceeds customer expectations.
Christmas Parade
Virginia Tourism staff was honored to join the Luray-Page County Chamber Tourism as participants in the Town of Luray Christmas Parade. Along with over 50 floats, state and local tourism members marched Luray’s Main Street parade route with ‘Virginia is for Lovers’ banners, handing out blinking-heart lapel pins and candy as the ‘Virginia is for Lovers’ signature truck followed with a tinseled, bright Christmas tree sprouting from the back, lighting the caroling troupe of tourism elves. Following the parade Virginia Tourism staff was greeted by the community, and SANTA, at the BB&T Performing Arts Center with local treats and holiday cheer! HU-RAY for LU-RAY!

VTC Help Desk
Wednesday, December 3 - 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. - The Mimslyn Inn
Virginia Tourism and the Luray-Page County Chamber of Commerce held a very successful Outreach and Training ‘Help Desk’ at The Mimslyn Inn, downtown Luray. VTC staff traveled to Luray and met one-on-one with Page County’s tourism businesses to take advantage of Virginia Tourism’s education, development and marketing services. In attendance were a record-breaking 100+ Luray-Page County dining, lodging, retail, event and attractions discussing best practices in reaching travelers, the media and increasing tourism visitation and spending.
